For Sale is for a Leblanc Wooden Professional Low Eb Bass Clarinet. This instrument was made in the 1960s according to my research, and is one of the most highly regarded instruments from that time period.  This beautiful instrument that has aged well.  The Leblanc Bass clarinets were made in France by skilled artisans, who only produced a few hundred instruments per year.  This instrument still plays beautifully.   It is keyed down to low Eb and is a two piece instrument, though the case stores the instrument as a single piece. Tuning is great on this instrument, and so is response. The pads are starting to show age, but still have life in them. A handful were replaced during the adjustment process for this instrument.  These instruments do not come up for sale often and are considered some of the best bass clarinets available on the market. Really only one of three brands for the serious bass clarinetist.
In terms of playability, this is a very nice instrument. It has a lovely dark tone that blends nicely and packs a punch on the low end.  It breaks down into two pieces (Even though the case stores the body together), and includes a used hard case. The case is functional, but has quite a bit of wear.  You will find this clarinet a great instrument to cherish for a long time.  A mouthpiece and Ligature included with this instrument.  Take a look at the photos to get an idea of the condition of the instrument below.  In terms of condition, the wood is solid and has aged well. The keywork is tarnished and the plating worn through in places.  Like I said before, This instrument is a fabulous player, and has to be played to be appreciated.Â
