Fox Renard Model 220 Bassoon (Used) #6691

For sale is an all-Wood Fox Bassoon, Model 220 with new pads, a Fox Bocal and new Protec case!  Fox originally produced this instrument in 1978 and has just been overhauled with new pads and the keywork polished to a shine.  The instrument plays extremely well, and has a great look to it.  This high quality Wooden bassoon was made in the USA by Fox, one of the premier bassoon makers in the world. This instrument includes standard keywork plus High D and High E keywork for full range.  The Fox 220 is a long-bore instrument that has great projection and tone.

We have just finished overhauling this instrument. We ended up replacing all the pads on this bassoon, and now it plays cleanly and evenly up and down. This is a great high end pre-professional bassoon, and because of the high quality fox design, you will find that it will play better than most other brands, and the Fox 220 is one of the best pre-professional models they offer.  The Tenon connectors are wax thread wrappings for added strength and durability.

Cosmetically, this instrument is in good condition.  There is some wear on the plating, even after polishing, but for a used instrument it looks pretty nice.  There are nicks and dings present on each piece of the instrument.  You will notice the wood on the bass joint tenons are a darker color – the tenons were professionally replaced by a previous owner of this instrument.  And the technician chose to use a stronger more durable Grenadilla wood for those tenon replacements.  This repair was completed with very high quality and the instrument plays as well as it did when it left the factory.   This instrument plays great, and now looks good too.  Also included is a silk swab, seat strap, hand crutch, and reed.  Please ask any questions about this instrument, we are happy to help.  A Bocal is included with this instrument in very good condition as well.
